Florida softball holds one last chance for a statement win at home Tuesday night.
The Gators welcome in fierce rival Florida State for a top 10 in-state battle at Katie Seashole Pressly Stadium.
No. 6/8 UF fell to No. 10/9 Florida State last Wednesday in Tallahassee. The Gators generated seven hits vs. the Noles, but just one run in the 3-1 defeat. In all but two of seven innings, the orange and blue left runners on base.
Meanwhile, the Gators were bitten by Isa Torres and her phenomenal two home runs, plus the two-way play of Ashtyn Danley – who fired four scoreless innings coming in from left field. Florida’s lone run came in the first inning on a leadoff shot from Taylor Shumaker.
UF, though, holds a chance at redemption and to further its odds of a top-eight seed. The Seminoles, meanwhile, need a win to stay firmly in the regional host conversation.
