The Polo Room restaurant opens in Palm Beach with a star co-owner

With a “Palm Beach chic” dress code and a “polo-inspired” ambiance and menu, a new restaurant led by an internationally famed polo player opens to the public Dec. 3 on Sunrise Avenue.

The Polo Room Palm Beach, featuring a décor imbued with equestrian-inspired details, occupies the space formerly occupied by PB Catch at 251 Sunrise Ave.

The new restaurant’s owners include Argentine polo star Nacho Figueras, who’s also a model dubbed the “David Beckham of polo” and the face of certain Ralph Lauren fashion lines. Figueras is a fixture on the polo scene each winter in Wellington, the equestrian community west of Palm Beach.

Figueras described the new restaurant venture as “deeply meaningful to me and my partners from the polo and Palm Beach community.”

“Polo has introduced me to extraordinary places, people and flavors around the world and this restaurant is a way to bring those inspirations to life,” said Figueras. “It’s my first venture into the culinary world, and I couldn’t imagine a more special setting than Palm Beach to share this vision.”

Other owners of The Polo Room Palm Beach — with “polo lifestyle-inspired cuisine” covering seafood, steaks and other dishes — include well-known area restaurateur Thierry Beaud.

Beaud was part of the team behind PB Catch, the seafood and raw-bar mecca that enjoyed a 14-year run at 251 Sunrise Ave. before closing in early November and announcing it would reopen as a new restaurant concept.

Details of the new concept were kept quiet until this week, when restaurant officials announced The Polo Room Palm Beach, which also is backed by investors.

Currently open for dinner only, the restaurant sports an interior with photographs depicting polo scenes and icons of the 1980s and 1990s. The images were curated in partnership with photographer Ricardo Motran, a.k.a “Snoopy.”

Guests can sip such cocktails as the Iceberg Skinny Cosmo and the Twenty-Two Below Zero ºC Martini with frozen olives — two signature drinks featured in the bar program. The wine list features more than 300 selections.

Dinner entrees at The Polo Room Palm Beach start at around $36.

Dishes on the menu include raw-bar fare ranging from oysters to stone crab claws; house-made empanadas; crudos such as ceviche and Hamachi; and salads including The Polo Room Waldorf.

Butternut squash agnolotti and lobster tagliatelle are among the pasta dishes, while seafood entrees include caramelized Chilean seabass “Veracruz” and Dover sole meuniere.

Several meat and poultry entrees include braised short rib, roast duck breast with caramelized blood orange, filet mignon au poivre, and a Wagyu French dip sandwich.

Steaks and seafood prepared asado-style — an Argentine barbecue method involving grilling meats over an open flame — also are featured.

Among the desserts: Mima’s Chocolate Mousse, traditional flan and dulce-de-leche crepes.

The Polo Room Palm Beach is open for dinner starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Reservations currently are available via OpenTable at OpenTable.com/r/the-polo-room-palm-beach.
