Jared Verse explains how Davante Adams helped elevate his game in 2025

Jared Verse and Davante Adams play completely different positions on the football field, but the veteran receiver is doing what he can to help the young pass rusher in any way possible.

Adams, whom the Los Angeles Rams signed in free agency last year, quickly became a leader in the locker room and his impact went beyond just the receiver room.

During an appearance on Maxx Crosby’s podcast recently, Verse talked about how Adams helped him mentally as he tries to become one of the best edge rushers in football.

“He honestly helped me elevate my game. He’s telling me about you,” Verse said to Crosby. “He’s like, ‘Bro, if you want to get to that next level, like where Maxx is at, you’re going to have to step it up, not even in the way you’re doing stuff, but in your mental approach.’ His mental approach is different. Physically, you’re doing it, but mentally – and he was telling me all that (expletive). And I’m like, ‘All right, bet. I know what I’ve got to do.’”

Adams played with Crosby in Las Vegas, so he knows what Mad Maxx is like on the field and off it. Crosby says he and Adams were really close and remain good friends to this day, keeping in touch throughout the season.

Verse certainly has the potential to take the next step and become a premier defender like Crosby, and he could enjoy that third-year jump that so many other players experience after being drafted.

He already took positive steps in Year 2 with 7.5 sacks and 27 quarterback hits after leading all players in total pressures (regular season and playoffs) as a rookie, but if he can continue to develop his pass-rush repertoire and cut down on missed tackles, he’ll become borderline unstoppable.
