An arrest warrant issued Tuesday, Dec. 3, accuses a 40-year-old Ferndale man of exposing himself to a child, who local news reports described as a young girl, at Zehnder’s Splash Village in Frankenmuth.
The community, dubbed Michigan’s Little Bavaria, also happens to be home to the “world’s largest Christmas store,” a year-round retail wonderland for folks who can’t get enough of the holiday.
Saginaw County prosecutors charged the suspect with two indecent exposure counts. He has not yet been arraigned.
The child, the warrant said, reported what she witnessed to a lifeguard.
And the police got involved.
It wasn’t the first exposure case at the resort. There was another one in late March.
But this time, Frankenmuth police are close to nabbing their man, and waiting for him to be arrested.
The department credited “crucial collaboration between our officers and waterpark staff in ensuring public safety” and praised “the swift action and vigilance of lifeguards.” Video surveillance and biometric software helped identify the suspect, officials said.
“Our officers,” the department added, “understand the community’s concern and want to assure you that we are taking this matter very seriously, with a unified commitment to the safety and well-being of everyone in Frankenmuth, residents and guests.”
