The ‘filet mignon of chicken tenders’ comes to Baymeadows. What to know

An Orlando-based restaurant chain known for its fresh, cooked-to-order grilled, hand-breaded or “sauced” premium chicken tenders recently opened its fifth Jacksonville-area location.

Huey Magoo’s Chicken Tenders debuted Nov. 19 at 8520 Baymeadows Road, Unit 1, on the city’s Southside.

The new restaurant joins Huey Magoo’s other area locations at 10560 Old St. Augustine Road in Mandarin and 3952 3rd St. S. in Jacksonville Beach. Huey Magoo’s also has restaurants at 76020 William Burgess Blvd., in Yulee’s Wildlight community, and at 2490 U.S. 1 South in St. Augustine.

The Baymeadows restaurant is also the brand’s 84th location in 12 states nationwide, restaurant officials noted in a news release announcing the opening.

The 2,000-square-foot fast-casual restaurant, which includes a pick-up window, is operated by franchisee Michael Phillips, who has 15 years of experience in the restaurant industry. It takes over a former Dunkin’ location.

The Baymeadows restaurant “represents our passion for great food, great people, and great service. We’re excited to continue expanding in Jacksonville and sharing the best tenders in America with even more guests,” Phillips said in the news release.

It is Phillips’ fourth Huey Magoo’s franchise location in the Jacksonville area.

“Michael has been an exceptional partner in our mission to bring Huey Magoo’s to more communities, and we’re thrilled to celebrate his fourth location,” Andy Howard, president and CEO of Huey Magoo’s, said in the news release.

“Jacksonville is a vibrant market for us, and we’re excited for guests here to enjoy our fresh, flavorful tenders and genuinely friendly service,” Howard said.

What’s on Huey Magoo’s menu in Jacksonville

Billed as “The Filet Mignon of Chicken,” Huey Magoo’s offers chicken tender meals, sandwiches and wraps, freshly made salads, crinkle-cut fries, fresh-cut chips and desserts, such as banana pudding and cookies, its menu shows

“Every tender starts with the best 3 percent of the chicken — the tenderloin — and is served hand-breaded, 24-hour marinated and grilled, or “sauced” and tossed in buffalo, sweet red chili, lemon pepper or garlic parmesan for maximum flavor,” restaurant officials said.

Recently introduced, its all-new Grilled Tender Bites is described as “a high-protein, snackable” option.

Also featured are “hand-spun chips” as well as fresh coleslaw, banana pudding, and house-made specialty dips such as Magoo’s, Spicy Magoo’s and Ranch. Additional signature dips include buffalo, honey mustard, BBQ, garlic parmesan, sweet red chili and bleu cheese.

Huey Magoo’s is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.
