Florida football’s 18-16 loss to USF at The Swamp didn’t set well with former players and fans who voiced their opinions on social media.
The loss dropped the Florida Gators (1-1) to 20-20 in four seasons under head coach Billy Napier. USF outgained Florida 391-355, as UF starting quarterback D.J. Lagway again struggled with his accuracy, completing 23 of 33 passes for 222 yards with 1 TD and 1 interception. After forcing two turnovers against LIU, Florida’s defense had no turnovers against the Bulls and just one sack.
No. 15 Florida now finds itself in desperate need of a momentum-shifting win when it closes the month with back-to-back games at No. 4 LSU on Sept. 13 and at No. 7 Miami on Sept. 20.
“We have to do much better,” Napier said. “I think that we have a group that will respond, and tomorrow we’ll present that opportunity.”
