Smoke may be visible from large prescribed burn in South Florida

Smoke might be visible in southern Martin County on May 1 from a 225-acre prescribed burn near Interstate 95 and Florida’s Turnpike.

The South Florida Water Management District was conducting a prescribed burn of up to 225 acres along the east side of the I-95/Turnpike corridor, according to a news release. It’s in the Loxahatchee River/Cypress Creek Management Area.

It was located about 2 miles north of exit 116 on the Turnpike and exits 87A and 87B on I-95 for Indiantown Road in Jupiter, according to the release. It’s on the north side of the Loxahatchee River.
