Smalls Sliders mini-burger chain coming to The Villages

Smalls Sliders, a growing miniature burger chain known for its diminutive burgers, special “schmauce” and eye-catching modular layout, is coming to the The Villages/Middleton area, in Sumterville.

The company loves its slang and calls its brightly colored shipping containers “cans,” and the color, “smorange.”

Their schmauce is a tangy reddish-orange condiment comparable to a zingier Thousand Island or Yum Yum sauce. They also have a queso dipping sauce.

Combos range from two to six sliders per meal, including sliders, fries, and a drink. Biggie Smalls are two patties for bigger appetites, and you can customize with bacon and other options. The fries are similar to Chick-Fil-A’s waffle fries but seasoned.

Headquartered in Atlanta, Smalls was founded in Baton Rouge, and promotes a “simple menu of fresh, cooked-to-order cheeseburger sliders, waffle fries and shakes” on its website.

The new location will feature a covered patio, and it will be golf cart-accessible. The astroturf patio is kept clean and is pet and hangout-friendly.

Smalls’ service style appeals to many, recalling Cane’s, using a walk-up or drive-thru window with orders taken on tablets, though this can lead to slow service, as one customer said on Facebook.

Their sliders are small but are surprisingly filling. Fans of Wisconsin-style smashburgers may enjoy the way they are prepared.

The Villages’ location is part of a larger, rapid expansion of Smalls Sliders throughout Central Florida and the wider state, led by investor and franchisee Doug Cone of DPC Smalls Investments and financially backed by former NFL quarterback Drew Brees, according to The Villages.

Middleton’s new 800-square-foot, mini burger serving can is scheduled to be dropped in sometime in late spring or summer. Daily Commercial will update readers once a date is set. Visit smallssliders.com to learn more.
