Despite FSU baseball’s season ending in the Tallahassee Regional, the Seminoles remain well represented among the top prospects in college baseball heading into the 2026 MLB Draft.
D1Baseball recently updated its Top 250 College Prospects rankings, with six Florida State players appearing on the list. Leading the way was left-handed pitcher Wes Mendes at No. 19 overall, followed by first baseman Myles Bailey at No. 39. Also making the rankings were left-handed pitcher Trey Beard at No. 103, outfielder Brayden Dowd at No. 125, right-handed pitcher John Abraham at No. 143, and catcher Hunter Carns at No. 166.
LHP Wes Mendes
The highest-ranked Seminole on D1Baseball’s board is Wes Mendes at No. 19 overall. The junior left-hander emerged as one of the ACC’s premier pitchers in 2026, earning ACC Pitcher of the Year honors after posting a 9-3 record while recording 125 strikeouts, the most on Florida State’s staff. Mendes consistently dominated opposing lineups throughout the season and projects as one of the top college pitchers available in July’s MLB Draft.
1B Myles Bailey
Bailey was the highest-ranked position player from Florida State, checking in at No. 39 overall. The sophomore slugger enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2026, establishing himself as one of the ACC’s most dangerous power hitters. Bailey’s combination of size, raw power, and run production significantly boosted his professional stock before his injury and had him poised to be one of the top players in the country before his season was cut short.
LHP Trey Beard
Left-hander Trey Beard ranked No. 103 overall after a strong season near the front of Florida State’s rotation. The FAU transfer finished second on the Seminoles with 97 strikeouts and repeatedly delivered in big moments, including a dominant nine-strikeout relief performance against Coastal Carolina in the Tallahassee Regional. His experience and track record could make him an intriguing middle-round option for professional organizations looking for polished pitching depth.
OF Brayden Dowd
Outfielder Brayden Dowd landed at No. 125 after serving as one of the Seminoles’ most productive all-around players. Dowd provided offensive consistency throughout the season while also showcasing defensive versatility in the outfield. His blend of tools and performance helped solidify his place among the top college prospects in the country.
RHP John Abraham
John Abraham continued to elevate his draft stock after emerging as one of the nation’s top closers. Ranked No. 143 overall, the right-hander recently earned a spot among the finalists for the NCBWA Stopper of the Year Award after anchoring Florida State’s bullpen. His ability to pitch multiple innings in high-leverage situations has made him one of the more intriguing bullpen arms in the draft class.
C Hunter Carns
Hunter Carns rounded out Florida State’s group at No. 166 overall. The catcher continued his development behind the plate while providing offensive production for the Seminoles. His combination of offensive upside and athleticism gives him a chance to be drafted, even if there are questions about his defense.
