Six FSU softball players receive NFCA All-Gulf Region Team honors

The No. 9 Florida State softball team won its 20th ACC Championship recently after taking down the No. 3-seeded Virginia Tech Hokies in a 2-1 classic. With their regional matchup against Stetson and future matches against UCF or Jacksonville State on the horizon, the Seminoles are going to have to rely on their star players if they want to make a deep postseason run and make it back to the Women’s College World Series

Due to their stellar work throughout the season, six FSU players have been named to the NFCA All-Gulf Region Team. Pitcher Jazzy Francik, with her ACC Tournament ERA of 0.77, was named to the First Team, while Isa Torres, Ashtyn Danley, Jaysoni Beachum, and Anna Hinde join her on the First Team. Infielder Marin Heller was also named to the Second Team.

The five First Team selections tie Florida State’s record dating back to 1995. All of the selections would be eligible to become All-Americans as well, which would be a significant bullet point on all of their collegiate resumes.

Florida State will face Stetson in the Tallahassee Regional beginning Friday at noon ET. Fans can catch the game on ESPNU.
