Volusia County deputies are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 55-year-old man Aug. 13 in southwest DeLand.
John J. Strobel was living in a nearby camp, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. He died at the scene.
The report came to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office around 8:34 p.m. near West Beresford Road and South High Street off State Road 15A, according to the sheriff’s office Facebook post.
“Deputies responded to a stabbing (on the evening of Aug. 13) in the southwest DeLand area, with one adult male victim stabbed by an unknown suspect,” the post stated.
Detectives have not named a suspect. As of Aug. 14, the investigation was still underway.
“Additional updates will be provided as they become available for release,” the sheriff’s office stated.
