Sarasota doctor faces new charge in sexual battery case

A Sarasota doctor is facing a new charge in a sexual battery case after a patient claimed he inappropriately touched her, court records show.

Stephen Feig, an osteopathic physician and former medical director of the Brain Wave Center in Sarasota, was charged on April 17 with sexual misconduct by a psychotherapist by means of therapeutic deceptions, according to court records.

The latest charge is in addition to a sexual battery charge that was filed on April 17, 2025, in the same case. Both are second-degree felonies.

In the spring of 2023, according to the probable cause affidavit, Feig was helping the victim deal with past sexual trauma. During one of their first treatments he made her repeat, “I am safe. Dr. Feig cares about me and won’t hurt me.”

Feig met with the victim at least 14 times out of his office, records show, with some of the meetings at his Sarasota apartment, where he touched her inappropriately so she could get used to being touched again. Feig also told the victim she would need to have an intimate relationship with him as part of the treatment and asked that she reenact a prior rape as he touched her intimately and against her will, records show. Feig denied the allegations in a controlled call with the victim and the Sarasota Police Department.

On June 23, 2025, the Florida Department of Health issued an emergency suspension of Feig’s license to practice osteopathic medicine in the state, records show.

Records also indicate Feig’s license has been suspended in Arizona and Hawaii. His license in California, however, is current through July 31, 2027, according to a state database.

In December 2023, court records show, Feig was arrested in a different case and charged with misdemeanor battery for inappropriately touching a victim in his office. That case is set for trial on June 8.
