The Buccaneers’ offense is loaded with a plethora of weapons, making it one of the more dynamic passing attacks in the NFL. However, one of them is seemingly going to take a little longer to heal up after news of a procedure being done in the spring.
ESPN’s Jenna Laine reported on Tuesday that sources told her that Bucs wide receiver Chris Godwin Jr. underwent a follow-up procedure on his injured ankle in the Spring. Godwin initially suffered a dislocated ankle in Week 7 against the Ravens, and while there was speculation he could return for the playoffs, he never did.
Fast forward to the present, after undergoing the second procedure, Godwin was placed on the active/physically unable to perform list on Tuesday.
Godwin was on pace for career highs across the board before suffering the ankle injury in 2024. The Bucs’ passing attack was firing on all cylinders, and Godwin was a major reason why that was happening. If the veteran wide receiver does miss any regular season time, look for first-round pick Emeka Egbuka to emerge as the starting slot receiver.
At the same time, Mike Evans and Jalen McMillan continue to work the outside roles.
