Renderings for the first major presidential library established in Florida have been released.
Eric Trump, the son of President Donald Trump and trustee of the Trump Library Foundation, released a video on social media showcasing the plans for the presidential library and museum.
“Over the past six months, I have poured my heart and soul into this project with my incredible team at Trump,” Eric Trump said on X on Monday, March 30. “This landmark on the water in Miami, Florida, will stand as a lasting testament to an amazing man, an amazing developer, and the greatest President our Nation has ever known. These images have never been seen by the public — until today. Enjoy!”
In a nearly two-minute video, the renderings show a large glass building towering over downtown Miami, including over the city’s Freedom Tower landmark. The name “Trump” in lights at the top is similar to that of his other buildings, and the renderings also depict an American Flag on the building and a golden entranceway.
The video shows multiple aircraft inside the building, including a replica of Air Force One that Trump said would be made from a luxury Qatari jet he was gifted. The rendering also shows a ballroom, a replica of the Oval Office and a theater with a gold statue of Trump in the center of the stage.
However, the video does not depict any typical library features or amenities, such as meeting rooms, computers for patrons to use or even shelves filled with books.
The president later shared the video on his Truth Social account, along with a link to donate to the Donald J. Trump Presidential Library Foundation Inc.
Where is President Trump’s library going to be?
The Donald J. Trump Presidential Library will be located on Biscayne Boulevard in downtown Miami, Florida.
The library will be built on a group of at least 10 vacant lots that currently serve as a parking lot, according to Miami-Dade County property records viewed by USA TODAY.
The board of trustees of Miami-Dade College voted on Dec. 2 to donate the ownership of the roughly 2.6-acre parking area for a presidential library. The property was first transferred to the state of Florida, and then to the organization.
Are the renderings for President Trump’s library AI?
It is unknown. Many of the replies to Trump questioned whether the renderings were made by artificial intelligence.
The end of the video says, “Designed by Bermello Ajamil, a Woolpert Company.” According to USA TODAY, the firm is based in Miami.
As of March 31, neither the White House nor Bermello Ajamil has publicly responded to allegations that the renderings are AI.
Does every president automatically get a library?
No, it is not guaranteed that a president will get a library made in their honor. However, the Presidential Libraries Act of 1955 allows for the “Archivist of the United States to designate a presidential archival depository at a site chosen by a President of the United States after his term in office.”
Since the Presidency of Herbert Hoover, most have opted to house their archives in a library. These are then constructed using private donations, not federal funds. Once built, the National Archives and Records Administration manages and operates them.
According to the National Archives, the Presidential Library System comprises 16 Presidential Libraries documenting Presidents Hoover through Joe Biden.
Is Donald Trump from Florida? Why is the library coming to Florida?
Donald Trump was born on June 14, 1946, in New York City. However, Trump has become a fixture of South Florida.
Trump purchased the Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach, Florida, in December 1985 and has operated it as an exclusive club since then. He officially changed his primary residence from New York to Mar-a-Lago in 2019.
