The Florida State Seminoles have to get better play out of their quarterbacks if they want to have a successful season in 2025, and they have nearly an entirely new group to make it happen.
FSU’s quarterbacks were put in a tough position during the 2024 season and were unable to make the most of it as the offense fell apart on the way to a disastrous 2-10 season. Mike Norvell went out and changed the offense and the room in the hopes of getting something closer to what Jordan Travis was able to give them in 2022 and 2023.
Brock Glenn is the only returner from 2024, as they brought in Tommy Castellanos to start and Kevin Sperry and Jaylin King to restore the depth of the room. The group will be tasked with running quite a different offense than FSU has used over the past few years, with new offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn wanting to run the ball and stretch a defense vertically and horizontally through the air.
Now, here is a look at the quarterbacks ahead of fall camp.

Starter: Tommy Castellanos
Backups: Brock Glenn & Kevin Sperry
The Seminoles need a quarterback who can operate Malzahn’s run-first offense and is dangerous with his legs. That plays perfectly to Castellanos’ strengths and helps mitigate his weaknesses. He showcased his rushing ability in 2023 (1,113 yards and 13 touchdowns) but struggled as a passer and protecting the ball. He improved as a passer in 2024 but was not as effective with his legs before getting injured, benched, and transferring.
FSU will need him to stay healthy and more consistent in 2025 as they look to get their offense back on track.
Glenn and Sperry are the two primary backups and will be pushing for the No. 2 spot. Glenn has the experience, but he has not been great when on the field. Sperry has impressed during his limited time on campus, but it can be a lot for a true freshman to play quarterback in the Power Four.
