Pensacola man gets 10 years in federal prison for Pensacola Village shooting

A Pensacola man was sentenced to 120 months in a federal prison after previously pleading guilty to possessing a firearm by a convicted felon, the U.S. Attorney’s Office announced July 11.

Witnesses identified 27-year-old Tariq Walker as the suspect in a December 2024 shooting at Pensacola Village. At the time of the shooting, Walker was a convicted felon with previous convictions of grand theft auto, robbery and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.

“Removing violent offenders from our communities remains a top priority of my office, and we will continue to aggressively prosecute those who terrorize our streets,” U.S. Attorney John Heekin said. “I deeply appreciate the combined efforts of our state and federal law enforcement partners to keep our neighborhoods safe, and my prosecutors will stand shoulder to shoulder with them in the fight to protect our communities from violent criminals.”

The Escambia County Sheriff’s Office, Pensacola Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives conducted the joint investigation.
