One person, two pets killed in Escambia County house fire

An Escambia County resident and two pets were killed in a house fire in the 1600 block of Arena Road on April 6.

Escambia County Fire Rescue responded to the fire after receiving a call at about 8 p.m. that one person was trapped inside a home that was on fire.

ECFR crews arrived on scene to find heavy flames and smoke coming from the single-story home. The fire was brought under control by about 8:40 p.m.

Despite a rapid response and aggressive firefighting efforts, one person was found deceased inside the home, along with one cat and one dog, Escambia County officials said.

The fire is under investigation by the Florida Bureau of Fire, Arson and Explosives.
