One of the season’s most anticipated new restaurants in Palm Beach is about to open: Tutto Mare, backed by an entrepreneurial power couple in the Hamptons of New York, will welcome customers on Jan. 2 next door to the new performing arts center Glazer Hall in Royal Poinciana Plaza.
The 200-seat restaurant with a 64-seat bar and lounge, a 72-seat dining room and 64-seat alfresco terrace on the Intracoastal Waterway is owned by the New York-based Tutto Il Giorno restaurant group, which on Dec. 17 announced the opening date.
The group, founded in 2006, is backed by such leaders as Gianpaolo de Felice and his wife, Gabby Karan de Felice, an interior designer who is also the daughter of famed designer Donna Karan.
The restaurant, which has been in the works for two years, received town approvals for operational and design plans in 2023 and 2024.
“With Tutto Mare, we wanted to honor the rich tradition (of Palm Beach) while introducing our vision of coastal Mediterrrean dining to Palm Beach,” Gabby Karan de Felice said. “with a vision to create an atmosphere that feels both chic and welcoming.
“We drew inspiration from my travels and blended the relaxed elegance of the Hamptons with Palm Beach’s distinctive character. The end result is a space where the community can gather, celebrate good food and wine and embrace the art of living well.”
Encompassing 8,300-plus square feet, Tutto Mare will operate in the same space occupied for decades by the John Volk-designed Celebrity Room restaurant and nightclub, which regularly drew actors, movie stars and recording artists.
As part of historic preservation efforts in concert with the restaurant’s owners, the bar and lounge will include the Celebrity Room’s original mural on its ceiling. The mural depicts 125 actors, celebrities, and well-known locals — from Joan Crawford and Clark Gable to Lilly Pulitzer and the architect Volk himself.
The new restaurant’s space has been adorned with oak, travertine and teak, complemented by “texture materials” and “layered lighting.”
The cuisine of Tutto Mare is under the direction of chef Agostino Petrosino and chef de cuisine Carmine Nozzolino, Tuto Il Giorno officials said.
The restaurant is adjacent to Glazer Hall, the new cultural arts center that has taken the place of the long-shuttered Royal Poinciana Playhouse.
