A 19-year-old Ocala man was critically injured the afternoon of May 1 in a crash on State Road 44, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The crash happened on State Road 44, west of the intersection with County Road 475 in Sumter County.
Cause of the crash?
The driver, alone in the car, sustained serious injuries in the crash.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the Ocala man was traveling east in a Volkswagen Passat when he failed to negotiate a curve. He lost control of the vehicle, which then entered the median and overturned several times.
Other details we know
Troopers confirmed the 19-year-old was unrestrained at the time of the crash, which resulted in him being ejected as the vehicle rolled.
He was transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. An investigation into the crash is ongoing.
