A lifeguard employed by the city of North Port was arrested early Feb. 2 after Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office deputies found him unclothed with a minor in a vehicle parked after hours at Manasota Key, authorities said.
Deputies located Ian J. Inman, 20, and a 13-year-old girl inside a black Toyota Scion at about 2:13 a.m., according to the sheriff’s office. Investigators determined that Inman and the minor had engaged in sexual activity. He was arrested and charged with two counts of sexual battery on a minor aged 12 to 18.
Inman is a lifeguard at the City of North Port Aquatic Center and remains in custody at the Sarasota County Correctional Facility. The investigation is ongoing. Anyone who believes they may be a victim is urged to contact the sheriff’s office Special Victims Unit at 941-861-4900.
