No. 10 Florida State softball erupted for six runs in the seventh inning to pull away from Coastal Carolina, 17-11, on Sunday afternoon at St. John Stadium, completing a three-game sweep.
FSU (21-4) led 5-2 early before the Chanticleers answered with a five-run second to move in front. The Seminoles tied it 7-7 in the fifth on a leadoff double by Ashtyn Danley and a two-run homer from Anna Hinde, then regained a 9-7 lead behind RBI hits from Isa Torres and Jaysoni Beachum.
Coastal Carolina (12-12) rallied again with four runs in the sixth to even the game at 11, but FSU immediately responded. Torres and Beachum opened the seventh with singles, and the Seminoles capitalized on three walks and a pair of wild pitches to take the lead for good. Angelee Bueno added her fourth hit, and Torres and Beachum drew bases-loaded walks as the Noles blew the game open.
Jazzy Francik (9-1) earned the win in relief, and Danley closed out the seventh.
