JUPITER — A plan to bring as many as 99 single-family homes to 60 acres near Interstate 95 and Indiantown Road is a step closer to happening.
The Pulte Home Co. is seeking to build the homes on what Jupiter records call Beacon Park, at the northeast corner of Indiantown and I-95. The neighborhood would border the Rialto and Limestone Creek communities near Jupiter Community Park.
The Town Council gave initial approval on April 7 to map and land-use changes that will allow Pulte to build homes on 23.4 acres of on the west side of Island Way, an area now intended for industry. The council previously gave preliminary approval for residential construction on the east side of Island.
The council must give final approval to all the changes as well as site plans for the proposed residences. A town spokesperson said a date for a final review has not yet been determined.
Jupiter land once was part of lure biotech to north county
The Beacon Park site previously was earmarked for industry as part of local efforts to lure to northern Palm Beach County more businesses similar to the Wertheim UF Scripps Institute for Biomedical Innovation and Technology campus in Abacoa.
A board that governed that effort was disbanded in 2024, and Jupiter’s planning board endorsed a hybrid approach for the land, recommending using the 34.3 acres east of Island for single-family homes, while keeping the industrial designation for the other half.
During the April 7 meeting, Zach Ciciera of Cotleur and Hearing, an agent representing the builder, told council members that an abundance of industrial land in other areas of the county has made it difficult to attract suitable companies to the Beacon Park site.
He said an all-residential designation would align with the nearby Rialto and Limestone Creek neighborhoods and bring less traffic to and from Indiantown Road than uses such as retail.
In January, the council gave a preliminary approval to use the parcel east side of Island for single-family homes.
Pulte is seeking a medium-density designation for the western side of property, some of which would be set aside for workforce housing, a program designed to make homes more affordable for middle-income workers.
