After being closed on weekdays for more than a month, public visitation to Naval Air Station Pensacola’s areas of public interest has reopened seven days a week.
NAS Pensacola closed the base to the public Monday-Friday on March 20, saying that only holders of Department of War cards would be allowed on base weekdays until further notice.
Areas of public interest on the air station include the Pensacola Lighthouse and Maritime Museum, Fort Barrancas and the National Naval Aviation Museum. Other areas on NAS Pensacola can only be accessed by individuals with a Department of War (DoW) identification card.
Visitors must use the West Gate at the south end of Blue Angel Parkway to visit public interest areas. The West Gate is open daily from 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. for visitor access.
Now that the base is open during the week, visitors are welcome back to the flightline to see the Blue Angels during practice on most Tuesdays and Wednesdays during the season.
Access to Barrancas National Cemetery is always available through the Visitor Control Center (VCC) to individuals with family interred at the cemetery. Visitors to Barrancas National Cemetery must enter the installation through the Main Gate at the south end of Navy Boulevard.
All U.S. citizens or U.S. nationals 18 and older must have a Real identification card or passport and enter NAS Pensacola through the West Gate. Foreign Nationals are authorized access to NAS Pensacola but must be escorted by a U.S.citizen with proper identification.
