Multiple experts project 3-star DL from California to FSU

About a week ago, Florida State landed a commitment from three-star defensive lineman Wihtlley Cadeau. According to multiple recruiting experts, the Seminoles will have another on the way soon as Steve Wiltfong of On3 and Zach Blostein of Noles247 have logged predictions for the Seminoles to land three-star defensive lineman James Carrington.

The 6-foot-2, 257-pounder is the nation’s No. 40 defensive lineman and the No. 408 overall prospect per On3’s industry rankings. They also have him pegged as the No. 36 recruit out of California.

FSU has had Carrington on its radar for a couple of years. He was extended an offer in March of 2023 after an unofficial visit, and he took another that October. However, this past weekend was his first trip back to Tallahassee, and that’s thanks to defensive line coach Terrance Knighton.

Carrington is coming off of a very productive junior season. The Crean Lutheran High School stand-out racked up 33 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, and nine sacks. He was named a MaxPreps Sophomore All-American in 2023 when he amassed 33 tackles, 22 tackles for loss, 15 sacks, and two forced fumbles.

Although Carrington isn’t a blue-chip prospect, the Seminoles meed a boost in their 2026 class which is currently ranked No. 32 in the nation.
