Mongols motorcycle gang member to remain jailed until he finds new residence or roommate

One of the Mongols motorcycle gang members charged following a brawl with the Warlocks during Daytona Bike Week 2025 must remain in the Volusia County Branch Jail until he either finds a new place to live or another roommate.

Anthony Trimboli, 35, was charged with aggravated rioting and conspiracy to commit aggravated rioting with gang enhancement. Trimboli was initially arrested July 9 and released on bond Aug. 5.

But Trimboli was jailed again Aug. 28 after prosecutors said he violated the terms of his release by traveling to Volusia County when he wasn’t scheduled for a court hearing or any other matter related to his criminal case. Trimboli had listed an address in Naples when he was first arrested.

Trimboli was among more than 30 members of the Mongols motorcycle gang who were charged following an investigation led by the Volusia Sheriff’s Office into the brawl at the RaceTrac at 3000 State Road 44 on March 8, 2025, during Daytona Bike Week.

Trimboli found himself before a judge again on Sept. 2 at the S. James Foxman Justice Center in Daytona Beach. Trimboli’s bald head was adorned with tattoos. At least one tattoo appeared to be of the Mongol’s symbol, a caricature of Genghis Khan. Another tattoo seemed to be of the letters RFFN which for the Mongols stands for (Respect Few Fear None). Other tattoos included a rose and a scorpion.

His defense attorney, W. Ron Alexander, told the judge that Trimboli’s plan was to move in with a roommate in a townhouse in Daytona Beach.

But Assistant State Attorney Helen Schwartz expressed concern because the roommate was also a member of the Mongols, although he has not been charged in the case.

The terms of Trimboli’s initial release did not bar him from living with another Mongol. He was instead barred from contact with anyone charged in the case.

But Circuit Judge Elizabeth Blackburn was also not happy with the prospective living arrangement.

“It is very likely that another member of the same motorcycle association would be used as a conduit to pass information along … ” Blackburn said.

Blackburn found the arrangement problematic for other reasons, as well. She said the roommate might have weapons.

“In addition, if that person has any firearms, weapons or ammunition whether or not Mr. Trimboli has access, if they are in that residence, it would be in violation of this court’s order,” Blackburn said.

“Given that connection and the fact that there are 30 other members of this organization that are charged with similar offenses which Mr. Trimboli is facing, I cannot approve that as a location,” Blackburn said. “I do not have any problem with him residing in Volusia if that’s what his intent is. You just need to find a suitable place that is not connected with another member of this organization.”

Blackburn added Trimboli would have to find a stable residence where he could get mail. She said Trimboli could not live out of his car.

She said she would reconsider releasing him, if his defense attorney filed a motion showing Trimboli had found an acceptable place to live.

At the end of the hearing, Trimboli shook his head, looked down to the floor and was then led out of the courtroom.

Mongols, Warlocks brawl during Bike Week

The Warlocks and the Mongols, are both classified as outlaw motorcycle gangs, according to a charging affidavit. The Warlocks had gathered at the RaceTrac to ride as a group into Daytona Beach on the last Saturday of Bike Week 2025. The Mongols rode in from their clubhouse in Edgewater and started the brawl with the Warlocks, according to the sheriff’s office.

Trimboli was shot in the abdomen during the brawl. He refused to complete a statement about being shot.

Another biker, a Warlock, suffered a grazing gunshot wound to the side of the head. He also refused to complete a statement.

According to an affidavit, both Trimboli and the Warlock claimed the gunshot wounds were due to accidental discharges.

Trimboli had been ordered to stay out of Volusia

Trimboli had been ordered to stay out of Volusia County unless he was required to be here for the legal case against him, according to a motion filed by Assistant State Attorney Erica Kane.

A Daytona Beach Police officer on Aug. 25 issued Trimboli a warning for a window tint violation on his 2013 Nissan Sentra, according to the motion. Trimboli’s Nissan was also detected more than 30 times on license plate readers in Volusia County between Aug. 18 and 25, according to the motion.

The motion asked the judge to revoke Trimboli’s bond and keep him in jail until the case against him is resolved.

For now, Trimboli will remain in jail.
