MIAMI GARDENS – Taking a look at who shined and who didn’t during the Miami Dolphins’ second day of 2025 training camp:
Stock up
CB Ethan Bonner
Bonner was in coverage on an incomplete pass from Zach Wilson to Erik Ezukanma that drew cheers from Bonner’s defensive teammates. Bonner and Ezukanma are in similar situations this summer. Both have had their moments in the past but have never seemed to break through and contribute in the regular season, so this is an important camp for each.
RB De’Von Achane
Achane had a couple of nice runs, although with limited hitting, no pads and no tackling to the ground, the success of running plays can be difficult to judge. Broken tackles? Missed tackles? One thing we know: Achane is fast. (Stunning news, we know.)
LB Derrick McClendon and DT Matt Dickerson
They shared a sack.
The weatherman
After the coolest training camp practice in ages for Day 1, players enjoyed cloud cover on Day 2 followed by the skies opening up. Bonus: When fans are allowed in this weekend, they’ll be happy to look up and see that the club has installed giant ceiling fans above the stands. They do a surprisingly good job keeping the air moving. (They don’t do much for the humidity, but you can’t have everything.)
LB Jaelan Phillips
LB Bradley Chubb
Phillips showed why he’s so optimistic he’s recovered from another leg injury. Besides that familiar burst off the ball, Phillips had a nice run-stuff vs. Achane. Chubb, also coming off a leg injury, rushed Tua Tagovailoa on a play that would have been a sack or at least a QB hurry at full speed.

Defensive line
We’ve pointed the finger at both lines because the team was guilty of (maybe you’ve heard this before) several pre-snap penalties. Better to have them in July than September. Best not to have them, ever.
QB Quinn Ewers
The rookie didn’t have his best day, at one point missing a target with a pass that resulted in a dropped interception by CB Ryan Cooper Jr., who punished with pushups. Ewers also seems to have a habit of releasing occasional sidearm even if he isn’t forced into it.
