Scottish fans are on the way. And they’re thirsty.
Boston learned that the hard way as Scotland opened its World Cup campaign with a 1-0 victory over Haiti in nearby Foxborough.
“No Scotland, no party,” is a battle cry of the colorful Scottish, a k a the “Tartan Army.” Miami is their next victim — uh, target — because Scotland faces Brazil in a Group C match at 6 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, at Hard Rock Stadium. Already, the fans and their kilts plan to attend a Marlins game. No telling how many bars they will suck dry before they’re finished.

The flight many fans took was delayed in takeoff, and by the time the plane approached Logan Airport, “It was water or wine,” one fan whined to ESPN.
Things improved only slightly in Boston. The Sam Adams Boston Taproom ran out of beer, reporting four times the normal amount of sales for a major holiday.
“We’ve never seen anything like it,” Sam Adams’ Billy DeCain told NBC in Boston.
Running out of beer is bad. The White Bull Tavern was in even worse shape.
“The Scottish fans just drank the place dry and all they had was Bud Light,” fan Dave Orr said on NBC.
While the quality of matches has been the star of this World Cup, colorful, nutty fan groups are right behind. It’s tough to not love Scottish fans taking over an Airbnb and serenading neighbors with bagpipes at 6:30 a.m. And what about Norwegian fans with their “Viking Row” in unison while riding on an escalator?
USA fans, Jason Kelce has a point about “We believe that we will win.” We believe it’s time to step up your game. Get creative.
