Despite setbacks and closures of some of its locations throughout the U.S., seafood fast food chain Long John Silver’s is not going out of business.
When USA TODAY asked Long John Silver’s about its recent drop in locations, Chief Marketing Officer Laura Ellis said the changes came after a new company bought Long John Silver’s in 2022. Four Oaks Partners bought the chain in November that year, The Franchise Times reported.
In 2019, the chain had around 900 locations. It now has about half that amount and released a disclosure document in June that included a list of locations that were shuttered, citing “routine” business decisions. Only one Florida location was on the list.

No. Long John Silver’s is not closing completely. The chain had a string of closures in 2025, but also had new openings. There are still more than 480 locations throughout the country, according to ScrapeHero.
