Colleagues, employers and family waited in the Roberts Elementary School Media Center on Monday, Nov. 17, with balloons and flowers to announce Tyler Fulton, the school’s computer technician, as the 2025-26 School Related Employee of the Year for Leon County Schools.
“Technology aside, the real joy of the job is working with the students. Being able to spend time with them and try to be a role model for them makes the job fun,” he said.
He’s been employed in the district and at the school for two years. His responsibilities include implementing new school technology, keeping inventory of Chromebooks and other equipment, and managing the upkeep of campus technology.
Fulton also fills in to run the school’s morning news show, works afternoon duty for student pickup and setting up and calibrating equipment for music shows and productions.
“This is such a great honor, and my campus is just like a second home to me and my administration is such a great support,” he said.
His colleagues and Roberts Principal Kim McFarland say those are only some of the ways Fulton goes above and beyond his regular job duties to support the school.
“In his short time he has been with us on our campus he has proven to be such an amazing person on our campus, full of light energy and just support for anyone who needs it,” Roberts Principal Kim McFarland told the Tallahassee Democrat.
Fulton’s expertise with Chromebooks, flat panels and other tech equipment helps him meet the demands of supporting more than 55 faculty members and over 850 students.
“Tyler not only provides exceptional tech support to the faculty, staff and students at Roberts Elementary, he always does it with a smile and a kind word,” media specialist Kristie Stephens said. “Tyler is, without a doubt, one of the kindest, most genuine, and polite people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.”
