Lee Health: Excellence in nursing, excellence for our community

If you follow Lee Health on social media, you’ve likely seen the news, but I wanted to take a moment to personally celebrate Golisano Children’s Hospital, HealthPark Medical Center, and Cape Coral Hospital for earning Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC).

This prestigious recognition has been years in the making and reflects our teams’ unwavering commitment to nursing excellence and to providing the highest standard of care for our patients and community.

Magnet designation is a significant point of pride across Lee Health and plays an important role in attracting and retaining top nursing talent, positioning our health system as both a regional and national leader in nursing excellence.

The Magnet Recognition Program identifies healthcare organizations worldwide where nursing leaders and frontline teams collaborate to improve patient outcomes. It is widely regarded as the gold standard for nursing excellence, recognizing organizations that demonstrate superior clinical results, strong interdisciplinary collaboration, innovation in practice, and a culture that empowers nurses at every level.

Magnet-designated organizations are known for delivering safer, higher-quality care, including lower mortality rates, fewer patient falls, reduced hospital-acquired infections, and higher patient satisfaction. They also foster professional environments where nurses are supported in advancing their education, participating in research, and contributing to shared governance and decision-making.

To earn this designation, each Lee Health hospital demonstrated excellence across the full Magnet framework, including transformational leadership, structural empowerment, exemplary professional practice, innovation, and outcomes that meet or exceed national benchmarks.

This achievement affirms each hospital’s commitment to continuous improvement, collaboration, and measurable performance results. Our other Lee Health hospitals, including Gulf Coast Medical Center and Lee Memorial Hospital, are also on this journey, and we look forward to celebrating their success in the future.
