The Lake Worth Playhouse has announced the launch of “Unscripted,” a new live performance series at the Stonzek Studio Theatre. The series aims to celebrate spontaneity, creativity and the excitement of intimate live performance, according to a recent announcement.
Hosted in the Playhouse’s 60-seat black-box theatre, “Unscripted” will feature a changing lineup of performers and performance styles. The series will include improv comedy, storytelling, cabaret, stand-up, staged readings and open-mic experiences. Audiences can expect a different experience with each performance.
Series to showcase local and regional artists
“Unscripted” is designed to showcase local and regional artists, providing a creative home for both emerging and established performers. The intimate setting of the Stonzek Studio Theatre allows audiences to be close to the action.
” ‘Unscripted’ is about connection, creativity and discovering something new every time the lights come up. It’s a place where artists can take risks, audiences become part of the experience, and no two nights are ever the same,” Daniel Eilola, artistic director, said in the announcement.
Opening performance scheduled for July
The series will open with “Unscripted: Improv Showcase & Jam” at 7 p.m. July 25. The performance will feature Billy Merritt, Kat Kenny, Robin Freebird, Tracy Friedman and Jess Wyant.
The next performance in the series is scheduled for 7 p.m. Sept. 26. “Unscripted: Storytelling Workshop” will be hosted by Laura Graham and Derrick Hatch.
