A Lake County sheriff’s deputy shot and killed a suspect early April 12, according to an agency news release.

What happened in this shooting?
According to the news release, deputies and Leesburg police responded to the area of 2415 Montclair Road, Leesburg, after receiving a report of a stabbing.
People at the scene said the suspect had run away and pointed out the direction. A deputy went in that direction, found the suspect and, during the encounter, shot him.
The man, later identified as Timotheus Reed, 38, died at Orlando Regional Medical Center.
What happens next?
As is standard, the deputy has been placed on paid leave and the Florida Department of Law Enforcement will investigate the shooting, the sheriff’s office said.
