What’s better than one UCF Knight, according to the Los Angeles Clippers?
Two UCF Knights.
On June 26, less than 24 hours after inking point guard Themus Fulks to an NBA Summer League contract, the Clippers signed his backcourt mate, Riley Kugel, to the same type of undrafted free agent deal.
Kugel paced UCF in scoring at 14.4 points per game last season. It served as a homecoming for the Orlando native after he spent his first three years of college at Florida and Mississippi State.
The 6-foot-5 guard started each of the 31 games he appeared in. He posted double-digit scoring totals 24 times, including a career-high 26 points against Baylor in February.
Kugel shot 41.5% from the field and 38.6% from behind the arc.
Last season, Los Angeles went 42-40 and fell to the Golden State Warriors in the Western Conference play-in round. The Clippers grabbed Illinois guard Keaton Wagler in the first round of the 2026 draft. They followed by selecting Cincinnati’s Baba Miller and North Carolina’s Henri Veesaar in the second.
Kugel, Fulks and the rest of L.A.’s roster will open the summer league against the Houston Rockets on July 11. They face Milwaukee on July 13, the Lakers on July 14, Denver on July 17 and one other opponent between July 18-20.
