PANAMA CITY — Florida State University Panama City will host former ABC News President Kim Godwin for a lunch-and-learn session.
The event will be Oct. 15 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Holley Academic Center’s St. Joe Community Foundation Lecture Hall, 4750 Collegiate Drive.
According to a news release from FSU Panama City, Godwin was the first woman and first person of color to hold the president’s position in ABC News’ 80-year history.
”Having started her career running local newsrooms in markets across the U.S., Godwin championed excellence and educating everyone about the vital role of journalism in a democracy,” the release says. “Before joining Disney in 2021, Godwin served as executive vice president of News at CBS. She retired from ABC and broadcast journalism in May 2024.”
Godwin is a graduate of Florida A&M University, where she earned her bachelor of science in broadcast journalism. Godwin has honorary doctorate degrees from Florida A&M University and Morgan State University.
Godwin will be interviewed by Brian Baber, an instructor in the commercial entrepreneurship program at FSU Panama City. Baber is the entrepreneur in residence at FSU PC’s Jim Moran College of Entrepreneurship, specializing in real estate and construction.
This lunch and learn is open to the public and requires no cost for admission.
The discussion will also be available on Apple Podcasts and Spotify as part of Baber’s “FSU Panama City Entrepreneurship Lunch and Learn Podcast.”
