A Kentucky man who raped a child while staying at a campground in Port Orange was arrested Sunday June 15 and will be brought back to Volusia County to face charges, police said.
According to Port Orange police, Gregory Allen Harris, 43, was arrested by Port Orange detectives with the help of Calloway County sheriff’s deputies in Murray, Kentucky, on Sunday June 15.
Harris was arrested on a warrant charging him with sexual battery of a victim under 12 and lewd and lascivious molestation with a victim under 12.
Port Orange police said they started investigating Harris on May 26 after the child disclosed the incident to a school resource officer in Kentucky.
Investigations revealed that Harris raped and molested the child continuously between 2021 and 2024 while he was staying at a campground in Port Orange, police said.
The investigation into Harris’s alleged crime is ongoing, Port Orange police said.
