Naples has cancelled its July Fourth parade Friday.
“Out of an abundance of caution for our community, parade participants, and staff, the City of Naples has made the difficult decision to cancel the 4th of July Parade originally scheduled for 9:00 AM on Friday, July 4, 2025,” the city said in a news release July 3.
Why did Naples cancel its July 4 parade?
Weather forecasts show there’s “a high probability of thunderstorms during the morning hours” so the decision was made.
“While we are disappointed to cancel an event that brings our community together to celebrate our nation’s independence, the safety of our residents, visitors, and staff must come first,” said City Manager Gary Young in the news release.
The parade will not be rescheduled.
Earlier July 3, the cities of Fort Myers Beach and Sanibel Island cancelled their parades.
Are Naples fireworks still planned for July 4?
The fireworks display was still scheduled for 9 p.m. over the Gulf.
“However, if lightning is in the immediate vicinity, the show will be temporarily delayed until conditions improve,” the city said in the release.
“This would be a short-term delay on the same evening, not a postponement to another day. We encourage everyone planning to watch the fireworks to use discretion if inclement weather or lightning approaches, seek shelter, and prioritize safety.”
