Jaguars' Travis Hunter bulked up during the offseason

It would appear that the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Travis Hunter has put on some muscle heading into his second NFL season.

Back in late May, Hunter was asked about the muscle he’s added this offseason.

“It wasn’t a focus,” he said, via Ryan O’Halloran of the Florida-Times Union, “it was me going in there and getting my overall body right and getting in shape. Because I couldn’t run, so weight room was my best friend, being able to let out some anger because I didn’t have my two feet.”

Hunter didn’t specify how much weight he put on. “You’ll have to wait for that,” he said with a smile.

Hunter has been rehabbing from a knee injury that he sustained last season, which cut his rookie year short.

He was not on the field during offseason programs, but remained in the meeting rooms and spent his share of time in the Jaguars’ virtual room to get mental reps at both wide receiver and cornerback.

Reports say that Hunter will be cleared by training camp, but a ramp-up period may be required after he’s missed so much time.

Hunter will continue to play both ways, although compared to last season, his workload on defense could increase.

“I’ve been very pleased with Travis and the way like he looks, his upper body,” Coen said earlier this offseason. “I mean, he runs outside of my office in the mornings and I mean, he looks like he’s been in the weight room. So, I’ve been very pleased.”
