It took just one year for the Jacksonville Jaguars to transform the team and its culture under James Gladstone and Liam Coen’s leadership. There have been huge improvements across virtually all metrics, from team success to improvements in coaching, staff, and facilities.
In addition to the team’s record improving from 4-13 to 13-4, the NFL Players’ Association report cards leaked earlier this year, and the Jaguars ranked fifth-best in the NFL. As it was, that signaled how much of a positive change there was between 2024 and 2025. And now, to make it even more clear how well the franchise is doing, the Jags are seeing recognition across multiple departments.
Last week, the Jaguars’ Strength and Conditioning and Performance Science staffs were named the Alvin Roy NFL Performance Team of the Year by the Professional Football Performance Coaches Association. Director of Strength and Conditioning Eric Ciano was previously named NFL Strength and Conditioning Coach of the Year in 2019 with the Buffalo Bills.
This award honors performance training, with only Head Strength and Conditioning Coaches able to cast votes.
“I am humbled and honored that our staff was selected as the NFL Performance Team of the Year,” Ciano said in a statement, via Jaguars.com. “Our team works tirelessly to ensure our players are put in the best positions to succeed. This award would not have been possible without each and every member of our staff and our players’ dedication to being their best.”
Then, in another honor, the Jaguars’ equipment staff was named the AFC Equipment Staff of the Year by New Era. The team previously won the award in 2017.
“There is so much that goes on behind the scenes to execute an NFL season, and my staff takes pride in mastering those details so our players and coaches can stay focused on the game,” Head Equipment Manager George Pellicer said in a statement, via the team site. “We are grateful that our hard work has been recognized and honored to be named the best equipment team in the AFC.”
It is clear that Jacksonville has made major efforts to turn the franchise around after 2024, and with every award the team earns, those efforts are clearly paying off.
