How long has J’Mari Taylor been with the Jaguars?
Following the 2026 NFL Draft, Taylor signed with the Jaguars as an undrafted free agent (UDFA).
Looking back at J’Mari Taylor’s 2025 college season
Taylor transferred to the University of Virginia from North Carolina Central University and was the team’s starting back in 2025. He ran for 1,064 yards and averaged 4.8 yards per attempt with 14 rushing touchdowns. He also had 54 targets, which tied for fourth-most among running backs.
He also proved to be difficult to take down, ranking 38th in average yards after contact and tied for 18th in missed tackles forced, per PFF.
Looking ahead to 2026 for J’Mari Taylor
Taylor has a hard road to making the final 53-man roster. The running back room already has three established players in Bhayshul Tuten, Chris Rodriguez, and LeQuint Allen, all of whom should have roles this season. If the Jaguars roster a fourth running back, which they have in the past, Taylor could have a chance.
Helping his case is that Liam Coen has had high praise for his production in college, saying he was an impressive running back, which led to their decision to sign him.
“Obviously, the season that Virginia had, and a lot of it had to do with his success and his ability to affect the game both in the run and the pass game as well,” Coen said. “So people just bounced off of him in ways. He forced a lot of missed tackles, and he’s super sharp.”
However, there are other more experienced running backs in the room, like DeeJay Dallas and Ameer Abdullah, whom he will have to beat out at training camp, and again, that is if the Jaguars roster four backs. The ability to contribute on special teams and in the passing game will be important factors.
