After signing his contract extension, Jacksonville Jaguars’ long-snapper Ross Matiscik had a brief message for fans.
“What’s up Jacksonville, this is Ross Matiscik. Just signed my extension here to stay in Duval. Super excited about the season and everything coming this way. Duval!”
According to Ian Rapoport, the Jaguars and Matiscik have agreed to a two-year extension worth $3.8 million in new money. Matiscik is now the NFL’s highest-paid long-snapper and is signed through the 2028 season.
Matiscik is a three-time Pro Bowler and a two-time first-team All-Pro.
Last season, Matiscik ranked tied for third among long-snappers in tackles, not to mention that he sets the table for punter Logan Cooke and kicker Cam Little, and the success those two have had.
GM James Gladstone had this to say after the extension became official:
“Ross’ consistency and ability to get down the field and make plays on special teams gives us an edge in that phase of the game,” said Gladstone, via the team site. “He has played at an elite level for several seasons and is at the top of the league at what he does.”
