Jaguars' rookie nominated for weekly award after Week 2 performance

Jacksonville Jaguars’ running back Bhayshul Tuten has been nominated for the NFL Rookie of the Week award following his performance against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Following the Tank Bigsby trade last week, Tuten stepped into the RB2 role behind Travis Etienne.

In total, Tuten saw just 18 offensive snaps. However, Liam Coen made sure to get him involved when on the field with Tuten touching the ball 10 times, and he certainly made the most of his opportunities.

On eight carries, Tuten totaled 42 yards, averaging 5.3 yards per attempt. He also caught both passes that came his way for 32 yards and a touchdown.

According to Jaguars PR, Tuten’s 74 scrimmage yards were the third-most in the NFL in Week 2 by a rookie. His 5.3 yards per rush were the second most.

Not only with Tuten, but the Jaguars’ rushing offense as a whole through the first two weeks has been the most productive in the NFL, both in terms of yards per game and yards per rush attempt. This has been a calling card of the Liam Coen offense.

Along with Tuten, Cam Skattebo, Elic Ayomanor, Tetairoa McMillan, Tyler Warren, and Andrew Mukuba were the other nominees.
