The Jacksonville Jaguars haven’t announced who will be serving as RB1 this season, with both Bhayshul Tuten and Chris Rodriguez battling it out for the spot through training camp.
Yet with the Jaguars seemingly embracing a committee-style approach, both will get plenty of action on the field, regardless of who ends up designated RB1. And Tuten has made it clear that, no matter where he falls on the depth chart, he has some high goals for himself this season.
In a new interview with NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Tuten spoke about what his expectations for himself are in 2026. If he manages to pull it off, he will easily be one of the best running backs on the team.
“Personal goals just for me, you know, getting that thousand mark, 1,500 of rushing yards, about 15 to 17, you know, possibly more, God willing, touchdowns and, you know, at least 500, 400 receiving yards just to be an all-around back,” he said. “It’s kind of the biggest thing, I’m trying to set the goals high. So, you know, I got to attain them and try to reach them, you know, keep me going.”
To be fair to Tuten, he said those goals are meant to keep him motivated throughout the season. But if he manages to come anywhere close to reaching them, he will be among the most elite backs in the NFL, which further shows just what his long-term goals are.
These goals are especially noteworthy considering the league’s reaction to the Jaguars losing Travis Etienne in free agency, without signing another running back deemed suitable to replace him. Tuten could easily prove everyone wrong with such a big season, showing the NFL that Jacksonville never needed another replacement, because he was already there, waiting and ready.
