Florida rapper YNW Melly, born Jamell Maurice Demons, is appearing in Broward County court for a hearing on multiple motions April 30, including one regarding release from jail while awaiting his January 2027 murder trial, according to court documents.
The hearing was anticipated to last a full day. Demons’ attorneys requested he be allowed to appear in civilian clothing, due to the uncomfortable nature of the jail attire as well as media exposure that could expose potential jurors to his appearance, a motion filed April 21 reads. A judge granted the request. Demons’ family will provide the clothing.
