Is there school today in Florida? 11 counties start summer break now

Let the trickle begin, before it becomes a deluge next week.

For students in 11 Florida counties, today, May 22, is the last day of the 2025-2026 school year. They weren’t the first to say farewell, though. Madison County ended the school year May 21.

The majority of students will end the school year in the days after the Memorial Day holiday May 25.

Here’s a breakdown by county, along with when schools will start after the summer break.

Eleven out of Florida’s 67 counties will end the 2025-2026 school year on May 22, which happens to be the Friday before Memorial Day, May 25:
