After 30 years in operation, Adventure Landing in Jacksonville Beach has officially closed. The popular water park and arcade hosted its final guests on Sunday, bringing an end to a Northeast Florida staple known for its waterslides, lazy river, wave pool and family arcade.
The closure also confirms the cancellation of Haunt Nights, the annual Halloween experience that drew thousands each year.

Why did Adventure Landing close?
Adventure Landing closed because the 22-acre property at 1944 Beach Blvd. sold in February 2021 for $7.87 million. The new owner — a private developer — planned to demolish the park and build a 415-unit luxury apartment complex.
Even after the sale, the park continued to operate under a series of temporary lease extensions, but those extensions have now ended.
Is Adventure Landing closed forever?
Yes — the Jacksonville Beach location is permanently closed and will not reopen. Once demolition begins, the site will transition into residential development.
Will anything replace Adventure Landing?
Yes. The developer who purchased the land plans to build a luxury apartment complex with more than 400 residential units. Early renderings and site plans show a modern multi-building layout, but no official construction start date has been announced publicly.
Can I still use my Adventure Landing gift cards, tickets or arcade tokens?
Yes, but not in Jacksonville Beach.
Guests can still redeem gift cards, game tokens and arcade tickets at the St. Augustine Adventure Landing location. The company also operates parks in Kansas, Ohio, Missouri, New York, North Carolina and Texas, where credits may be honored, but visitors should call ahead to confirm.
What happened to Haunt Nights at Adventure Landing?
Haunt Nights — the popular Halloween experience featuring haunted houses and scare actors — has been canceled permanently at Jacksonville Beach due to the park’s closure. There is currently no announced relocation of Haunt Nights to another Florida location.
Who owned Adventure Landing and what did they say about the closure?
Hank Woodburn opened the park in 1995. He issued a statement to guests about the closure: “For 30 amazing years, it has been the privilege of a lifetime to serve the Jacksonville community… Watching generations of families create joy together has been an extraordinary blessing.”
Where can fans share photos or memories of Adventure Landing?
Fans can visit the official tribute page titled “30 Years of Adventure Landing Memories” to upload photos, share stories and look back on three decades of family traditions.
Was Adventure Landing supposed to close earlier?
Yes. The park was originally expected to close in October 2021, shortly after the property was sold. However, multiple lease extensions allowed the park to stay open until Oct. 14, giving residents a final summer season.
What is happening to the water slides and arcade equipment?
Adventure Landing has not confirmed whether any attractions will be relocated, sold, or scrapped. Some regional water parks and family entertainment centers often purchase used slides and arcade machines during closures — but no official sale list has been released to the public.
