INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Surfers and beachgoers can check the conditions of Wabasso Beach prior to setting foot on the sand.
The county’s Natural Resources Department and Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department teamed up with Surf Guru Inc., to provide a live look at the beach through the Wabasso Beach webcam and daily forecasts for the upcoming week.

“Being able to view real-time ocean conditions is valuable not only for county staff planning shoreline management, but also for residents and visitors who want to safely enjoy our beaches,” said Coastal Resource Manager Quintin Bergman.
The camera was a $1,400 installation and carries an annual maintenance and subscription fee of $3,000, said Natural Resources Director Kylie Yanchula. Wabasso Beach was chosen because it already had the infrastructure for a camera, she said.
Other local surf cameras are located at Sebastian Inlet State Park, Fort Pierce Inlet State Park and Stuart Rocks. Along with the live feed, the webpage also features current weather, tide charts and surf reports for the area.
It can be accessed at https://indianriver.gov/beach-cam.
“This live feed is another tool that helps us protect our coastline while providing the community with helpful, up-to-date information,” said County Administrator John Titkanich. “It is an example of service excellence, raising the level of service to the citizens of Indian River County.”
