The Mayport-based destroyer USS Thomas Hudner has been playing a crucial role in the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, recently released Navy video shows.
The video shows the vessel launching Tomahawk Land Attack Missiles, able to deliver powerful, destructive blows from 1,000 miles away. The ship has been one of four destroyers independently deployed in the eastern Mediterranean Sea, the news site USNI News reported March 9, carrying out its own duties while other vessels cross the region as part of carrier strike groups.
The missiles let American forces target and destroy key Iranian facilities in relative safety before carrying out closer-range missions.
As forces position themselves for the next steps in the war with Iran, here’s some background about the Hudner.
The destroyer has been part of hot-spot conflicts before.
