Calls for service records show the July 27 quadruple shooting outside a home on Susie Street was the same address as an April 22 double shooting that led to a suspect being shot and killed at another location by Jacksonville police.
In total, two women are dead, one man is dead and four men were wounded. Police have been called to the home at 8222 Susie St. seven times since Jan. 1, according to Sheriff’s Office records obtained by the Times-Union. Others included a report of a firearm being discharged at a person on May 22 and a suicide attempt on April 17.
Court records also show three citations for abandoned junk/vehicles on the property in 2025. The Times-Union called a number for the homeowner but has not heard back.
In the latest aftermath, Christine Diane Dixon’s family and friends just want answers. The 57-year-old Clay County woman had some problems but also had just bought a new home in May and was feeling blessed.
“Remember, always say your prayers, always have faith, never give up and know to keep shining because you’re worth it,” she says at the end of a Facebook video post by her boyfriend, Sean Penna, showing their new Orange Park home.
“That’s her, that’s her,” Penna said about her spirit and personality.
“I know that Christine had some problems,” he told the Times-Union. “But I know Christine did nothing but help people and hand stuff out to people. And that’s what people in that neighborhood know about Christine. … I don’t know why she was there, but I know she was the most loving, caring person. We just want to find out as a family what has happened. It’s a complicated case.”
The Sheriff’s Office has released limited details. Dispatch received several calls about 1 p.m. reporting multiple people being shot. Officers located two men and a woman wounded outside the home off Old Middleburg Road and 103rd Street. Another man drove himself to a hospital with a gunshot wound.
The woman, identified by family as Dixon, died at the hospital. The names of the others haven’t been released, but the Sheriff’s Office said they are 31, 33 and 69 years old. At the initial briefing, a commander said it was unclear how everybody was involved.
Penna said he was alerted by Dixon’s daughter who said a woman there said she thought her mom had been shot in the head. So he immediately drove there and found an active crime scene. He said he and one of her sons made it to the hospital in time to see doctors try to save her.
He said he has no idea what happened.
“Did a fight break out amongst the people, possibly, or did some assailants approach the people?” Penna said, going over theories. “… Were the four shot people the only people in the incident. There’s got to be people that ran.”
He said Dixon did just inherit some money — her previous husband died about a year ago — and people knew that, so she could have been a potential mark or maybe somebody was trying to help her or the other way around.
Penna said he didn’t want to delve into Dixon’s substance abuse issues but was open about her battles with sobriety.
“She was in the wrong place at the wrong time,” he said. “She was probably over there trying to help somebody, who knows. To say that she was there doing what everybody thinks she was doing, she very well might have been there not doing that, because she was that person.”
“She was overwhelmed, she had a lot going on in her life, a lot,” he said. “She’s come through so much, she was still amazing. I cherished every moment I spent with her except the uncomfortable ones when we maybe disagreed about things.”
One of the uncomfortable instances happened on May 31 when the two got into a dispute after coming home from a bar. Dixon ended up getting charged with domestic violence. But Penna stands by her.
“Grateful For So Much I will Never Meet a Woman who could replace Christine Dixon,” Penna posted on Facebook. “I Love Her. God has Blessed me with allowing me to be part of some Amazing Women’s Lives unfair to ever compare.”
One of Dixon’s sons also started a GoFundMe page.
What happened in the prior shooting on Susie Street?
Little has been released in the prior shooting at the home on April 22. It happened about 5:30 a.m. when 34-year-old Kristen Lee Jennings and a man were located outside of her home suffering from gunshot wounds. Jennings died and the man was in critical condition.
A suspect ― 53-year-old Robert Marion Phillips ― was quickly identified, tracked down and shot and killed by police that afternoon. After officers blocked his vehicle, he pointed a gun at them and fired at least one time. Officers returned fire, killing him at the scene. A gun was recovered under this body. He had been in a relationship with Jennings, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
