High temperatures in the afternoon reach the 90s with a moderate to major heat risk in the forecast, according to the National Weather Service.

During a heat advisory, residents are advised to do the following:

Signs of heat exhaustion include dizziness, thirst, heavy sweating, nausea and weakness, according to the National Weather Service. If you experience these symptoms, move to a cooler area, loosen clothing, sip cool water and seek medical help if symptoms don’t improve. Heat exhaustion can lead to heat stroke, which can be deadly.

The chances for isolated to scattered showers on July 8 are 20-30% chance with lightning storms expected north of the Treasure Coast during the afternoon and evening.

A moderate risk of rip currents existed at all beaches across the area, so officials reminded beachgoers to swim near a lifeguard and never enter the water alone.
