Two Harveys Supermarket locations in Lakeland will transition to Winn-Dixie Company stores, the grocer announced this week.
In all, seven Harveys Supermarket locations across Florida and southern Georgia will be part of the company’s brand transformation and the decision to bring its stores together under one name, according to a March 16 news release.
Latest moves by Winn-Dixie follows selloff of stores to Aldi
The move comes as Aldi sold the Winn-Dixie and Harveys Supermarket brands to a consortium of investors, but continues plans to convert some locations to Aldi stores.
Southeastern Grocers, under the new ownership of the consortium, continues to operate the remaining Winn-Dixie stores.
Aldi, which acquired Winn-Dixie in March 2024, plans to focus on expanding its own brand with new stores and conversions of existing Winn-Dixie and Harveys locations.
The deal allows C&S Wholesale Grocers, a member of the consortium, to expand its retail operations.
According to Winn-Dixie’s news release, the conversions of Harveys store marks another step forward in the company’s evolution to The Winn-Dixie Company. The move reflects a focus on growing the Winn-Dixie brand across Florida and southern Georgia.
Following the transition, customers will continue to be served by their local store teams while gaining access to the fresh food offerings, including fresh produce, meats, signature Own Brand products and everyday savings, the release said.
“For more than a century, Winn-Dixie and Harveys have earned the trust of families and communities across our region,” said Anthony Hucker, chairman and CEO of The Winn-Dixie Company. “Bringing our stores together under one iconic name, Winn-Dixie, allows us to build on that shared legacy while continuing to invest in our stores, our associates and the quality, value and fresh offerings our customers count on.”
Harveys locations scheduled to convert to Winn-Dixie include:
The Harveys store conversions will reflect Winn-Dixie’s new look. Inside, the grocer said it will continue to offer customer favorites, including Own Brand products, prepared foods and the grocer’s signature Lip Lickin’ Chicken in the deli.
